Welcome to the art room!
During the course of the year, we will focus on many concepts including the creative process, the elements of art and the principles of design. We will also explore different drawing, painting, printing, and sculpting techniques, employing a variety of media. Art is a wonderful learning tool and most of our lessons will reinforce knowledge in other disciplines. I am very excited to explore art with your child and to help guide them as they develop their own creativity.
In 6th grade, student projects will touch upon on a variety of techniques and provide an opportunity to refine their skills. This will lay the foundation for their projects in grades 7 & 8, where the techniques will be more advanced. In the upper grade levels, students are able to choose the subject matter of their art and infuse their creativity into the new techniques and media that has been introduced.
We are so proud of our students and I hope to use this website as an opportunity to showcase their work. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach me at [email protected].
Also, the Art Room is always open to material donations! If you have something you think we could use, such as paper, acrylic paint, paint brushes, fabric, crafting supplies, or wallpaper samples, please contact me. More often than not, we will gladly find a way to incorporate them into a masterpiece.
I will make every effort to enrich your child’s art experience. I wish you and your child a positive and successful school year.
